Vehicle and scope

Use Combined assessment when wheel and tyre changes interact with suspension or body-height changes. Modified axles or steering may need a separate approval pathway.

Manufacturer references

Enter every applicable option for this model/variant from its tyre placard, owner’s manual or manufacturer specifications. Each diameter is compared separately; the width reference uses the widest and narrowest applicable options.

The minimum tyre width comes from the narrowest optional tyre indicated on the manufacturer tyre placard. Record it separately from manual/specification options used for diameter. Leave an unestablished placard floor blank for review.

Manufacturer option 1

1 manufacturer option · up to 8

QLD uses TRA Design New Tyre Overall Diameter with the correct tread type, or the applicable UN R30/R54 calculation/table. The maximum grown diameter and the ordinary nominal size calculation do not establish this result. If the diameter basis is unknown, leave it unestablished and the result will require review.

Fitted tyres
Fitted tyre — same size on all four road wheels

This assessment uses explicit metric width/profile/rim designations. Omitted-profile, flotation and mixed-size fitments need separate review.

Tyre ratings

Leave unestablished evidence blank for a review result. Use the lowest fitted single-fitment load index on each axle and the lowest speed symbol across all four tyres. An LT marking with two load indices uses the single-fitment index, not the dual-wheel index.

Load ratings and wheel loads

Mixed or unknown speed categories need separate load review, even where all four tyre sizes match. The lowest speed symbol establishes only the minimum speed rating; it cannot establish another tyre’s load derating conditions.

The calculator does not estimate wheel loads from GVM/4 or axle mass/2, or calculate pressure/speed capacity adjustments. Passenger V/W/Y load limits use the vehicle’s speed capability. An intended road speed cannot replace that basis. Documented vehicle top speed must be within the full-capacity range; otherwise load derating needs separate review. Schedule 1 section 46 limits the cold pressure used to assess capacity to the lower of the tyre-maker limit and 825 kPa for radial tyres or 700 kPa for other tyres.

Speed rating and vehicle class

The required rating uses the lower of the class threshold and documented vehicle top speed. Without top-speed evidence, a rating at or above the class threshold can meet this check; a lower rating needs review. A road speed limit does not establish vehicle top speed.

Wheel installation and physical checks

Record measurements and evidence for the actual installation. An unverified check remains a review finding. Wheel offset does not establish wheel track, and tyre size does not establish physical clearance.

Track, wheel ratings and spacers
Front axle
Rear axle

Use a supported individual wheel requirement. GVM divided by four or axle mass divided by two is not evidence of the highest wheel load.

Compatibility, condition and physical inspection

Choose verified only where the stated condition has been inspected or documented, and retain the supporting reference.

The tyre/rim size and construction combination is supported by the applicable Tyre and Rim Association standards or other accepted standard, for the actual tyre and rim.

Hub location, stud pattern, nut/bolt tapers, number, security and thread engagement are correct; no slotted/elongated holes or structural changes were used to make the wheel fit.

On each axle, rims have the same diameter, width, offset and mounting configuration, and tyres have the same size and carcass construction. This check covers normal road wheels, not an emergency spare exception.

With wheels straight ahead, tyres and rims are contained by bodywork/guards/flares, or a documented original protrusion is not increased. Other applicable guard requirements remain to be verified.

The loaded vehicle has no tyre/rim contact with body, guards, chassis, brakes, steering or suspension throughout travel and steering lock, including normal raised obstacles.

Steering/suspension stops were not altered to create wheel clearance or reduce the turning circle.

The tyre manufacturer rates every fitted tyre as suitable for normal road use; limited-use or temporary tyre exceptions require separate review.

Wheels, rims, retainers and mounting hardware are secure and free of unsafe damage, cracks, repair welds, corrosion or movement; construction/weld restrictions are met.

Principal grooves retain at least 1.5 mm tread throughout the required band; tyres/valves have no unsafe defect, exposed cord or non-compliant regrooving. Retread markings/standards, if applicable, are confirmed.

Original wheels or appropriately manufactured replacement wheels are used. Required approved-standard indelible markings are verified for vehicles built on/after 1 July 1985.

Speedometer operation and the accuracy requirements applicable to the vehicle/tyre combination have been checked and retained in the evidence. A designation-derived percentage is not a speedometer test.

Suspension and ride height

Document the actual vehicle type. For NA/NB1 goods vehicles, the ADR category alone does not establish a four-wheel-drive type or its raising pathway. An evidenced MC classification establishes the relevant off-road passenger type.

Measure the unladen vehicle at the same chassis or suspension datum relative to the wheel centre. These suspension measurements exclude tyre-radius changes and body-lift blocks, which are entered separately. Missing measurements remain unestablished.

The original physical tyre baseline can differ from the manufacturer options used for tyre dimensional allowances. Use the actual original and fitted tyres with a supported diameter basis.

Suspension travel and ground clearance

Working travel is the unladen suspension movement to the rigid limit, with deformable stops removed. Enter original bump-stop clearance separately for the inspection comparison; these are different measurement bases.

Components, steering geometry and stability control
High-lift testing evidence

For an LS9/LS10 certification pathway, retain the design, lane-change and applicable ESC records for your Approved Person. Basic lift bands do not require extra certification or testing solely because ESC is fitted. Entries here record evidence; they do not authenticate a report.

TMR requires technical LT2 testing for NA vehicles upgraded to NB1 with LS9 height certification and MC2 vehicles above 3,500 kg. For these cases the nominal test GVM may be 3,500 kg or the higher certified GVM; it is not the measured test mass. The current no-handling-test exception is for vehicles originally manufactured as NB1 above 3,500 kg.

Manufacturer evidence can establish a route without a test facility entry. Overseas evidence needs either a local ROVER ESC facility’s own validation report, or direct NATA-recognised evidence with Approved Person verification that the vehicles are identical in all applicable respects. The Approved Person verifies and retains the required evidence.

Queensland source basis

Use the official requirements linked here with the source references and review dates attached to your result. Selected-system findings do not establish whole-vehicle approval.

Official Queensland sources

Find the published requirements behind the selected checks. Each result lists its applicable sources, review dates and remaining checks.

Some checks use the document editions listed below. Later changes to those documents have not been confirmed. Check current TMR requirements before relying on an exemption or certification option.

Proposed GVM upgrades, some lighting arrangements and special tinting approvals need individual assessment. TMR or an appropriately accredited Approved Person must confirm the requirements for your vehicle. A calculator result covers the checks selected and does not certify the vehicle.

The statutory lighting, tinting and loading limits were rechecked on 22 October 2026. The document dates and individual assessment limits shown with each result still apply.
